SuppleMENTAL

Since embarking upon on my weight loss journey I've found it decidedly convenient to have something else to obsess over whilst on our TTC/ART hiatus. Don't worry I'm not weighing out my portions of cereal or anything. The food part is surprisingly easy for me. It's actually more of the exercise part that I tend to be obsessive about. I'm working out between four and five days a week and it's really going well. But I fully admit that it takes A LOT of willpower to keep my ass off the couch and motivated to exercise so consistently. That part is not so easy.

So since I'm on this new health kick I have decided to subject Brian to a pretty hefty load of supplements to help his boys get a little more whip in their tails. To be one hundred percent honest, I have no idea if it is even going to work. It's a total Hail Mary, but it's a relatively easy thing that we can try to do to boost our chances for my hopelessly delusional miracle BFP aspiration a successful IVF cycle.

I initially got the "cocktail" from Dee who posted about how it helped her husband with severe MFI. (Dee btw, is currently pregnant with triplets (!) after her SEVENTH IVF) I then ran it passed my acupuncturist, who is a licensed herbalist. She approved and was able to order all the goods for me. So now Brian is chugging two different buffered powders in juices - twice per day- AND taking eleven pills a day on top of that.... (Thanks dear)

So for all I know thirty packs of Tic Tacs could yield the same results since we're still possibly dealing with a chromosomal issue, but you know what? This makes me feel like we're actually doing something. Like the twelve months we're taking off to save up for IVF won't be completely useless otherwise. And I'd hate to get to our first cycle and have it fail, then think to myself that I coulda/woulda/shoulda put him on those damn Tic Tacs, and that maybe just maybe we would have had a different outcome. You know how that goes...

So anyway, I'm assuming the RE we're going to meet with in October is going to order another S/A. And I'll commence hoping with all my might that we do infact see a difference - I'm not expecting a perfect score, but just a little something for his efforts would be nice. This appointment afterall will be over 120 days after Brian started this regimen, and from the various reports I've read sperm mature at 70 - 90 days past production, so it should be just in time. Annnnd I guess that's all I have to say about Brian's sperm.

For now.

Wish us luck!

Ha ha, pleasure sweety! It used to take me about 10 minutes to get all the tablets out! My DH was on all the meds for 4 months when we did our cycle and I honestly think it helped us. Cant wait to hear the SA results!

PS congrats on the working out, thats impressive!

Wishing you tons of luck. I think it is great that your husband is taking all those supplements. I take them too for egg quality. I am still not convinced that they worked and understand your tictac theory but it makes me feel more proactive and less out of control, so why not. Good luck with everything!!!!

Lots of Good Luck! I think it could be helpful, and it does feel good to feel like you are both working towards something, rather than waiting around.

If you had told me in high school that I would be wishing your future husband's sperm good luck, I would have died laughing. But seriously, good luck. I hope the little suckers gobble up those supplements and get SUPER BUFF.

I'm glad you can both feel like you're doing something instead of just waiting. Focusing on your health can never be a bad choice anyway. I really hope both of your efforts make a difference! I feel like the year is flying by and before I know it I will be excited to read about either your miracle BFP or your successful IVF! Good luck!!

Definitely do everything you can so you have no regrets. I think you are doing awesome with the weight loss! I am AMAZED you are working out 4-5x a week. I can't even fathom it. Also, the food thing would be super hard for me so again, *impressed*. And what a great husband you have to take all the supplements. You are going to be poked and prodded like crazy in the next few months so it's nice he's putting forth an effort too (even if it pales in comparison to fertility treatments). Thanks for the update!

Good for you for kicking ass with the exercise! I'm totally jealous (but not enough so to actually get off the couch -- LOL!) And I'm dying to know how things turn out with hubby's numbers. Maybe something we can try while we wait to hear the results of our chromosomal testing, etc.

Big hugs,
Jo

Wishing you luck that the supplements do their biz! Go tic tacs, go!

I always think, if it can't hurt, why not try...if it makes you feel good and your DH is on board sounds like a good plan.

Certainly sounds like it worked for your blog buddy!
