I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that if this cycle doesn't work we're going to have to take a few months off to pay down some debt and save up some money. I really hate the thought of not being able to cycle, but we have to be financially responsible. In order to keep my eyes on the prize I've come up with a few goals that I'd like to accomplish during our down time.
1. Donate Blood: this is something I have wanted to do for years, but ttc has gotten in the way.
2. Loose some weight: I have really abused desserts and spitefully indulged in soft cheeses as way of coping with my anger, frustration, and overall sadness that has come with dealing with IF.
3. Try Yoga: I've always been intrigued by it, but never made much of an effort to explore it. I may have to start with a video of some sort because classes seem to be pretty pricey and I'm going to scrimp and save every single penny I can while we're on this break.
4. Mend my broken heart: I want to shed the heaviness that has held me for so long. I have to.
5. Read more: There are tons of books that I want to read, but for some reason I haven't made enough of an effort to get around to them.
That's all I have so far. I may come up with more, during the copious amounts of spare time I'll have. I also already made an appointment with a new RE for the end of January. It's not that I'm already discounting this cycle, I'm just trying to be proactive. In case our new RE wants to run some tests, I don't want to have to wait until we're ready to cycle or close to it. I really want to be prepared.
My tww is going well so far. I'm 6dpiui today, and feeling the same as always. Definitely hopeful though, and praying that we finally get our BFP.

M - I am hoping so hard that you get your bfp.
You made me lol when you referred to eating soft cheeses spitefully - I will be thinking of you and cheering for you.
I think those are great goals. I'm praying hard for your Christmastime miracle, Melissa.
Love your "new year resolutions," even if they come a little early! Sometimes taking a break can be wonderfully healing -- I know we've had our fair share during our 7-year journey so far. Sometimes its simply necessary, for financial and for emotional reasons.
Hoping, however, that it won't be necessary for you, because maybe, just maybe, this one worked.
Hugs,
Jo
I, too, love your "resolutions" list. I found it inspiring and will do the same!
#3 - as a way to supplement your videos, I have a friend who is a yoga instructor. She used to teach "donation only" classes, I'll see if she's up for it again.
#4 - I hope the heaviness lifts and your heart heals~
Praying for your BFP this cycle.
XO
Blah is a great description for this year's holiday season. I've managed to do some of the rituals but the xmas card thing is not happening and my shopping has never been less inspired. There's been a lot of tears this December.
But, I love that you're thinking about what you can do for you. Breaks are really important and you guys have been going full force. I know you will rediscover some parts of yourself that have gotten lost.
Of course I hope that break never happens. I am pulling for you! I hope this one works.
I hope you get your BFP soon! My goal is to give blood before the end of the year. We're on the same page, it seems.
I am truly hoping this is it for you and the BFP you so deserve is waiting at the end of this for you. If you want to get into yoga there are different types, but the one I have found most beneficial is power yoga or ashtanga yoga. Really helps with losing weight too - and i totally over indulge as a coping mechanism too. Vicious cycle really. Let's hope we both get out of the IF drudgery soon! xx
I am so hopeful for this cycle's IUI, but I think it's good that you have also laid out a plan for things to keep you occupied on the chance that you have to wait a little while to cycle again. I think these kind of plans help keep us sane. Have you checked out the YMCA for yoga (or a local community college gym or course for that matter) -- sometimes you can get a pretty good deal with this option, even if you just buy a small package of classes to get you started.
Thanks for your comments about my situation, by the way. I can't believe me RE said that either. WTH? As if I am not scared enough. But having everyone's support is really helping so much.
I'm praying this is your month too! If it isn't, it's smart to be proactive with a new RE so that you don't have more down time than you want. I know how hard waiting can be. The worst was when we didn't do anything for 7 mos. after C had varicocele repair.
Hope the holiday bug finds you eventually and chases some of the blues away. I'm forcing it a little myself.
I hope that your list changes or at least gets modified to something like:
1) Eat for 2
2) Do Pre-natal Yoga
3) Read up on pregnancy books
because I hope this cycle works. And if it doesn't, know that we are here with you, and will hold your hand through the time that you will take a break.
Looking forward to seeing you soon! ((hugs))
Nothing like a plan to make things look brighter. I love your goals but, as much as I do, I hope you get to do them with a little miracle on the way.
I'm asking Santa to bring you and Brian what you want most.
Hang in there, girly and let me know if you need anything.
It's always good to have goals that don't revolve around TTC. Yoga is great at relaxing your body and mind. I hope you get lucky this cycle and don't have to go to a new RE!!
I love Nikki's revised list for you and I am hoping that will be the list you will be following.
However, I do understand the need for self preservation and for having a plan. It is really good that you have got some things planned that you can work on. Having some goals to meet during a time when you aren't TTC would make the period of not TTC seem to pass faster. My weight loss goal prior to the FET gave me something to concentrate on...
But I am still holding out for a BFP for you.
Sorry I have been such a comment slacker lately, but I have been thinking about you! I like your goals and I think it's great that you're focusing on those things. I definitely recommend yoga-- I can't wait to get back into it. Love you, girlie!
Thanks for the visit!
I hope you get your miracle as well.
Sending all my good thoughts your way as you wait for good news about this cycle. I hope, hope hope this is it for you! You've got a great set of goals, and I love how pp suggested some alterations if things go as they SHOULD.
xoxo...
